Baby Tuesday

I decided that I wanted easter portraits of the babies.
But as usual, I don't want to pay for them, and I don't want them to be cheezy.
So I took matters into my own hands: staked out a flowery field near Daddy's work, fueled them up with cookies, dressed them springy (with props!), and tried my hand at photography.

They need some photoshopping, to get rid of my shadow, but otherwise I'm really happy how they turned out. There are more, but this BT was already gettin kinda full.
Can you tell how difficult it as to get them both to sit next to each other AND look at me AND smile? Nearly impossible.

It looks so rural, but was SO not rural.
And there were these horrible spiny weeds underneath the flowers so no one could get in.
There was another mom with the same idea as me that wouln't settle for the woodchip path, gave up and left.

Biggest baby party we have attended yet. Everyone stayed pretty cheerful and can you believe they kept those hats on?!

Babies babies babies. I think there were around 12 there.

They were actually kinda dancing, in a field day competition kind of way.

"hey I have this book, it's a great read."

When in doubt, overdress. A toddler might as well get as much use as possible out of a silky blue oriental dress.

Hey lady babies, check out my fashionable Cape Cod swim trunks.

Baby C opened the paint (without my blessing) and then Baby R crawled in it.
I decided to embrace the moment, and paint Baby C like Goldie Hawn from Laugh-In.

Baby R has some wet debris stuck to him, as usual.

It looks like she's on one of those giant boucy balls with the handle. Only, suddenly-- it disappeared.

and I also made

ooh conference tote bag!
go me.

a whole new level of marshmallow salad

Tonight is an all-group pot luck. Our Wednesday small group usually has two "couples" (which means, two wives, generally) make din din for the rest of us.
Through this process I have learned:
People do not like minestrone or chicken salad
People do like cherry cobbler and foccaccia bread.

From that, I decided to stop being tricky with fancy recipes, and just do what a pot luck deserves...

Ambrosia! (a.k.a. Caca salad to my mom)
We're supposed to be bringing out dish appetizer style, so I made them in little individual sundaes. They are chillin' like chicks in a drawer in my fridge, waiting for their road trip.

Baby Tuesday

It's like his birthday never ended!
We now have pics from GiGi's camera!

This is my usual pose. Mega hunching to reach the wee ones during the day.

She wasn't too into the Wells Fargo express.

"I love eating"

She looks underwhelmed at the world's largest rodent paddock.
I was enthusiastic for her.

He walks alot now. I say that he walks like a sheep up on two legs.
It's terribly cute.

Don't let the smocks fool you, gravity had it's way, and they both got super soaked. So much so that we had to strip them down in the middle of the museum and change their clothes with all the other parents giving us "the look."

a housewife kind of job

I have been informally offered 25hrs a month working for our church (from home of course).
I like the sound of that.
That's less than an hour a day, divided evenly.
I could probably handle that.
I also spoke to someone who used to work for them and he said they are the best church he's ever worked for.
Hmm.

I'm thinking about taking it. Although it wouldn't start until the start of the fiscal year...which is um, I dunno when that is.

This is where I pray, isn't it?

I made a chihu-aco!

It's been a long time a comin' for this new dog bed for my little Mojito. I laughed so hard tears came to my eyes when I was carrying him around in it.

if my brain was a cat, it would be away

And the mice in my frontal cortex, well you see where I'm going with this...

Instead of doing a bunch of other necessities, I made this for Trina's blog.

It has all kinds of Trina-stuff added to it. Like the brown tone of her sweet Volvo station wagon that also happens to be roughly the same color as chocolate and coffee, her basic nutritional staples. The "woods" of California half-toned in the background, two of her artworks, and white branches from the logo I made her.

That was way more fun than all the other things I'm supposed to be doing.

It also helped keep my mind off the garage sale that I wanted to have but had to postpone, which is a chiropractic care fundraiser for myself, and how every weekend that passes is another week without an adjustment.
And how I got royally suckered in the other day to sign a fat clipboard full of ballot measures from this sleazy mcsleazeball guy, just because I didn't want to be mean to him, and how mad at myself I was later.
And how overwhelming it is to read about world poverty and how guilty I feel for having food at all.

Did I mention it's almost 1 am?

Baby Tuesday

Hooray for Baby R! He turned one!

I love that a party for one baby turns into a party for both.

Note the special 1st birthday bib. I gyp'd Baby C on her 1st by not visiting the party store prior to'. I made up for my mistake with butterball.

Alright people, hurry up and sing so I can eat this bear and go to bed.

High cuteness density photo, a baby and a pony.

"finally a hammer they won't get mad at me for playing with!"

I remember standing here, at the guinea pig island. a year and a half ago carrying ransom in a different fashion, being fat and sweaty. Here's to non-pregnancy! [clink!]

A Gwynnie in her natural habitat, in the grey fleece lined vest.

I wouldn't let him bite the petting-goats. But I didn't stop him from slobbering all over Grandma.

Her expression, that's my girl.

Capybara enclosure. I wonder if they ever stick their hooves or snouts through the ropey baracade?

I can walk, well sorta.

Wrong camera setting! Sorry. But the Where the Wild Things Are tree was fun. Especially when you put on a wild thing furry vest.

Nothing Baby R likes better than being outside. So despite the chilly temperatures, we ate birthday breakfast out front.

Step 31 of bear in crib cake.
Yes, that is a glue gun. But don't be scared.

It's a baby bear in a crib with a diaper and a blankie.
I never did get a good shot of it.
But it was cute. A cute pain in the butt that was totally worth it.

Carmel-by-the-Sea...

It looks like they are helping each other build a sand...something.
He's helping her, and she's irritated at him.

Look there's GiGi! Well Baby R can't, his eyes are closed.

"Could you point me to the nearest sandy, slimy organism? I'd like to chew on it."

There's something sea turtle-y about him here.

I enrolled Baby C in preschool today, it starts in exactly 6 months, and she MUST be potty trained in order to go.
I'm studying

I wish I could tell you all about the preschool, but I suppose I'll keep that anonymous. It's surprisingly nice and what I was looking for, even though it's not Montessori or Christian. I registered by the hair on my chinnie chin chin. Thanks Mom for helping me with it.

One video from the Discovery Museum.
And no, that's not Baby C with Baby R. Her name was Stella.

Long video of us arguing on his birthday. It's Kevin's fault.

My mom has even more photos, since I ran out of batteries twice on his birthday and had to use hers. Aurora, it is your job to get them off her camera, and upload them somewhere for me!
