i tend to agree with you, and some of the other commenters. when i see the t as a cross, i immediately think "it's a corny church/church event." i also agree with the person that said papyrus is the 'church font'. you've given these designers some food for thought. good job!
I agree. Other things that bug me about general hokiness in churches:
"The Lord's Gym - His pain your gain" T-Shirt.
The Jesus window decal that looks like Metallica.
The crappy defacto clipart that comes with publisher.
Lamely editing a picture with paint. - This is a bit elitist, I know, but come on people! You can get Photoshop elements for like 20 bucks from techsoup...
